Friday loves {the man and some lemons}

A few loves that I'm having at the moment!

1.  Lemons - perfect time for lemons right about now, and when I go for walks around my neighbourhood I see lemon trees filled to the brim with gorgeous plump lemons.  Luckily I have a few friends and relatives with such delightful trees and take as many as I can grab!  They are my favourite colour and I love the taste I've been known to slice and eat!  Yum yum yum!

2. Lemon recipes...

Ok so some of my favourite things to do with lemons;
 * Drink lemon cordial with a slice of lemon
 * Drink tonic water (and maybe some gin) with several slices of lemon

 * Make this awesome lemon slice
 * Eat these amazing pancake lemon muffins (believe me - they taste exactly like pancakes with sugar and lemon!!)

3.  The man.... My man to be exact - He's very special of course but this week his business website went live.  Two years ago (when our second child was all of 3 months old) my husband quit his job to start his own business.  He worked from home for the first six months, at times things got tough, then he found a great office space (3 minutes from home *bliss*) and now works with his business partner and bestie Steve and they've employed two others.  Proud of you my love and saying it loud!!

friday loves {the BIG question}

A moment that made me laugh....

And that is the love of my son's never ending list of questions....mostly about trivial things, that he may, at any given time of the day ask and repeat until answered to his satisfaction.... (so perhaps I don't that love that quite so much)...

But no so long ago me and the kids were partaking on one of our favourite activities of going through photo albums of them when they were babies - which includes photos of me, heavily pregnant! Well my son at first thought every pregnant photo of me was with his baby sister inside..

Me; 'No son, in that photo you are in my tummy' I say
him; 'Oh...is that me in your tummy, ' He confirms.
Me; 'yes - you before you were born,' I say nodding

(CUE; thinking time for him)

him; 'but Mum!' He says quite seriously...
Me; 'Yes..'
Him; 'Why, well, why did you eat me?'

(CUE; me laughing hysterically whilst rolling around on the floor)

Happy Friday

Friday loves

A few loves that I'm having at the moment.............

1. Happy healthy kids - there is nothing like seeing the colour and smile and zest for life return after your kids have been zapped down with a retched lurgy for about a month.  I don't know how the parents of really really sick do it.  This week, the smile, the rosy cheeks and the happy kids I know and love made a welcome return.

2. Sunshine - does it really need further explanation?  sunshine makes you happy - And I love that umbrella!!!

3. Finding inspiring blogs!  Through a link from another link (sorry I can't credit anyone) I stumbled upon this delightful blog called Green Apples and she is all sorts of amazing.  She recently completed a month of blogging about her handmade clothes that she wore every day for a month!  She shares the pattern she used, the material, her tips and then shows off a photo of herself in her new outfit - so inspiring and motivating that I've pulled out a Vogue pattern for some gorgeous summer pants I've been wanting to make for ages!

Wishing you a happy friday (and I'll link this to the gorgeous Maxabella's grateful link tomorrow!)

friday loves

a few loves that i'm having at the moment....

1. thoughtfulness - Ok so last week I posted that we were 'recovering' from 'the worst cold ever'!  Well I lied....we were not recovering, oh-no!  I think I just said that to psych myself better and say good riddance to being sick.  No it hung around and morphed into something far more hideous that included aching ears, razor blades in the throat and my poor boy got an ear infection during the week!  booo hoo to us!  A friend called, just as I had pulled up smack bang in the middle of Struggle Town and said to me 'Oh my.... I can't believe you're all still sick....I'm cooking soup today, so i'll drop you around some'

**sigh**

So when she arrived at 4pm that day with a basket, brimming with so much food....i haven't had to cook for three nights!  Two types of soup, tuna pesto pasta, bread rolls and a huge watermelon!  Can you believe it - She has two kids and works part time as well!!  Thankyou Janine!  You are awesome!  Unfortunately my friend is blogless!  A travesty I know...and something i will have to work on because she is the most organised person I know it would make for a great blog!

2. Bloggy friends -No really you guys are all full of awesomeness.  Whilst being cooped up inside sick and with sick kids it was nice to know that I could log on and have inspirational moments of sanity.  Just reading what you folks were up to meant I didn't feel so isolated.  You were like my mothers group, a warm hug, a cozy blanket, a great conversation and a cup of herbal tea all at once.

3. Lovely sibling moments.... caring for each other, comforting one another and in general, just showing their love for one another (sometimes)!

I've joined in with the delightful Maxabella Loves link were bloggers declare what they are grateful for!  Please stop by her inspiring blog if you get a chance...

Happy Friday to you all

Friday loves

A few loves that I am having at the moment.....

1. Oranges -  the little ones and I have been pretty sick all week!  I know - a great way to start spring, but it still feels very much like winter in Melbourne and we have been bunkered down in the house with a terrible cold.  So we've been getting stuck into the oranges and I must say, I do love a good navel orange!

2. Entering giveaways - I do love good giveaway and was the lucky winner of one only last week - although I have won a few in my short time here is blog land.  There is a lovely giveaway over at Moose & Bird - this stunning pear pillow!  Be sure to check it out!

3 Worthy causes -  Kid Independent are supporting Backpacks for Aussie Kids by running an "undie drive" - All you have to do is visit the site and pledge to post them some new undies which will go to kids in foster care!  Foster carers are un-sung heros and do an amazing job but sometimes have little time to prepare for a child that may be coming into their care.  Not only that, but sometimes kids are placed into foster care with very few possession, basic items - like underwear.  I have worked with many children in foster care or whom have had to be placed into foster care in the middle of the night and sometimes there just isn't time to pack anything!! By registering to pledge you go into the draw to win some fabulous prizes - like this gorgeous handmade delight!  What a great fabulous cause hey!

2.  La Photo Cabine - I noticed this on Cathy's blog and just had so much fun with it!  I think me and kids were playing with it for hours - ok I was playing with it too!!!!  Check it out!

3.  My letterbox fairy - every now and again, my dear friend surprises me with a special treat in my letterbox - and it just makes my heart sing!  How sweet are these little treats!  Do you enjoy baking?  Well, next time you make a batch of cookies or cake, leave some in a neighbours or friends letterbox - nice change from all those nasty bills!

friday loves

A few loves that I'm having at the moment....

1. I love eggs - scrambles, poached, florentine, benedict, hard-boiled, or used when baking.  This is a surprise actually given my both my parents hate them with a passion!  My kids love eggs too!  My son loves to crack them and break them and my daughter will hunt out the small saucepan and request a soft boiled egg! My husbands colleague brings in fresh eggs to work every few days from his chooks and there is nothing like fresh farm eggs.

2. I love books - and always have one (or two) on the go and need to read a little bit each night before turning in!  Tomorrow When the War Began is now being made into a movie, but did you know it was part of a series of books written by John Marsden?  The first book was published when I started high school and then each of the other 6 books were released every year after that, giving me one book every year of my high school days.  I remember borrowing the first book from the library by chance as a year 7 student, and reading it in two days over the weekend it was so good!  These books were like the Harry Potter for my era!  I want to see the movie, but already i know that the books will be better!

3. I love altruism - when people help people for no return, praise or acknowledgement.  Last week I was the recipient of such altruism when a blogger by the name of Maxabella Loves offered to fix my blog header!  Maxabella was also responsible for sharing a great kids dress tutorial find that I desperately needed!  If you haven't visited her blog, please do!  It's full of inspiration, real life anecdotes and posts to make you think!

4. I love this cute little spring outfit - especially the headband!
