Feel good life {getting fit}

Welcome to the first Feel Good session.  I've been doing a bit of blog soul searching lately.  Working out what I want to blog about and all that sort of stuff.  So each week I'm going to focus on a Feel Good Life moment.

Something good, something simple....About making the best of the life we have.

At the start of the year, I put it out there.

A list.

Of things that I wanted to do this year.  One of which was "get fit"

Now if you know me IRL, or even if you don't, you may have read this post, but me and Fit have never really been friends.  I'm more sportsgirl than sporty...

But call it whatever you like but since the start of 2012, I've been getting to know Fit.

Daily, I run - on a treadmill for about 25 minutes.  I push myself and end up all puffed and sweaty! I then do sit-ups, reverse crunches, bicycle crunches, squats, weights and that horrible thing called The Plank! I'm doing it in order to get Fit.   We walk to school for drop off and pick up.  My kids love the outdoors and we love getting active together.  I love to know they are seeing me regularly exercise and looking after myself.

Since my commitment to Fit, I have more energy.  I eat less. I feel more focused.  I sleep better and wake better.  I Feel Good!  And that's the key....It really has made difference in the way I feel.  It's not about weight loss, it's about caring about my body so it can perform the many tasks I ask of it each day.

Me and Fit....we're not quite friends yet, but lets call us acquaintances.

Is Fit your friend?  If so how do you keep the friendship going??  Does it make you feel good?

Do share...

  1. Fit and I are definitely friends.

I feel better when I exercise. I know that my insides are better when I exercise. My outside even looks better when I exercise.

And of course, if everything feels so good. Why are we only just getting fit now?

    It's a funny thing...

But so glad that your Sportgirl is getting in touch with sports!

  2. Good for you, Bren! I'm super impressed that you have just quietly been getting on with your fitness over there.

Since finishing up the day job, the kids and I have walked to school every sunny day. I walk them up there (about 1.5 km UPHILL) and then I run home (downhill, yay!) I really, really love it, although my knees may not agree... poor knees.

  3. Amen Brenda...good for you!!
Due to health issues that I knew I could no longer ignore I asked hubby if he would join me in getting fit..I needed someone other than myself to be accountable to. Thankfully we are well on our way to getting fit and healthy..the numbers dropping on the scale are just an added bonus. As a result of all this hard work I am feeling fantastic and while most days I really enjoy the feeling after a great workout session, there has been a few times I have dragged my butt doing it :)
    Keep up the great work.

  4. Good luck.

I'd call fit an acquaintance. I'm still working on the friendship.

I'm teaching myself to run (this has been ongoing for the last year) but have only just realised what I need to do to meet success.

I still find I have to mentally work myself up to 'want' to go to the gym but I'm always grateful for having been.

Persistance. I'm not going to sit on the couch and grow old. I'm going to get fit, stay fit and be healthy.

I know it's good for me and that's what I keep telling myself. I think finding some good exercising buddies might help make it more fun.

  5. Fit and I used to be friends - a very long time ago. It's a bit embarrassing to admit that as a physio I'm the last person to take my own advice about exercise...

I really should get out and do it!

  6. Lovely to find your blog - via Maxabella. Fit and I, we really like each other, but don't see each other often enough. That's the main problem - I need to keep it contant! I put a half marathon on my 2012 list (why on earth did I do that??) so fit and I need to catch up, and soon!!
I think the key is enjoying what you are doing to get fit. If you don't like it, you're not going to keep doing it. ;)
