a skirt and the neighbours

I made a skirt last night. Long time coming, it feels like I haven't made myself a piece of clothing in ages.  Not really what I had hoped for this year.  I really wanted to make more...but as usual life, and other such stuff gets in the way.  But this maxi skirt....pattern totally made up as I went was rather a quick project that probably only took 30 minutes. I love the tribal print...I knew straight away it would make a great maxi skirt....I shall be planning more and if it works a second time (let me first rule out a fluke...then I could consider a tutorial).

As I set up the tripod to snap a few shots of said made skirt, I did take a moment to consider my location.  Usually I just plop myself near the side fence of our backyard but today I was a little self-consious.  You see I have new neighbours.  Yes, I could just imagine the conversation over dinner at their house....."hmmm you know our  neighbour takes pictures of herself" "Oh really?"  "yes, I think it's a sign of madness" "your probably right, perhaps we should avoid her at all cost" So I snuck down the other side of my house...the icky side with the hot water system, the old door and mirror and the air conditioning unit.  But at least my neighbours didn't see!

Top: by Kookai

Made anything for yourself lately?
What are your neighbours like?

  2. I love your skirt Brenda! The orange is gorgeous. We have one set of neighbours close to us - the others are further away. They are lovely and quiet. One of them is called Charlie the same name as our pup. He must flinch loads when I'm yelling at our pup. He must feel like he's in trouble all the time!

  3. Haha! I often wonder what neighbours must think when bloggers take photos of themselves :)

Brenda that skirt is fabulous! I've been in a sewing frenzy lately making dresses for my soon to open shop so haven't really had time to make much for myself..hopefully once the holidays arrive that will change.

  5. Just perfect lovely girl! What a beautiful vibrant print for such a bubbly, happy lady. Neighbours...we have sticky beaks here! We can't go out in the back yard without them poking their nose over the fence. Hope your week is a wonderful one :) x

  6. It's gorgeous - you clever thing! I would love to be able to sew - a machine is high on my wish list. As for neighbours, we can't even see ours living where we do but they are really lovely - it does mean I can yell at the kids without being heard :-) Mel x

  8. Love the print and it absolutely suits you. I have a zig zag stripe maxi skirt that stands out. One of my favourite pieces to wear. Which goes to show its nice to step out of the nuetral colour zone. On the odd occasion I've set up a tripod for photos I hope nobody drives past our quiet road!

  9. Bahaha! Love it girl! I know my neighbours think I'm bonkers with my ironing board, camera and poses. Those double storey townhouses behind us must share the funniest stories around their dinner table!

And well done on the dress. Looks amazing (just like you)!
