Ok....So the fifty pages a day Challenge is still going.  I'm pleased.  I'm making so much more of an effort to dedicate to books on my list...and I'm proud to say I've knocked off thirteen books this year already!

So what's been read, what am I reading and what's next I hear you ask...

Well I finished Room, by Emma O'Donahue which was such a provocative and heart wrenching book all in one.  It was one of those books that was so well written and so well described that I quivered at times at the 'realness' of it all.  It was a bit 'can't put down' and I was at the end before I knew it.

Reading
Death at Pemberly by P.D James.  Ok I picked up this book as it was in the top 10 when I bought it....I've heard about this author (who is apparently very adept in the crime writing department) but my interest was in the detail.  Yes, it's set in the era with our lovely characters of Jane Austen's P & P.  I'm half way through, and yes, it's intriguing....not enough Darcy and Lizzy yet, but a fun read so far....a great "who dunnit?"

Next....Freudian Slip by Marion Von Alderstein - this book is set in the sixties in Sydney and about the success (and ways of getting it!) of women in the publication and advertising business.  I am intrgiued about this one!

Do you give yourself a list of books to read?
I tried recording the books I've read and a little synopsis of them, but I found I got a bit lazy (hence i now blog about them!)....do you keep a book diary?

xx

  1. Ooh, I'm SO impressed by how much you're reading right now! I've gone off reading, but must keep at it! I've gotten into bad habits again, but back onto early nights and early mornings again (starting yesterday)!

I have a few half finished posts about the books I've read, but now it's been too long and I've lost my inspiration.

Blogging in short bursts is a great idea. Perhaps I'll join all my book posts together into one semi-long one!

Now, off to see your creative space!

  2. This book is on my list too, Bren.

I've decided that life is too short to 'get through' books. If I'm not loving, then I'm moving on. x

  3. I'd have to say my book reading at present in woeful! As soon as I pick up something I read a few lines and then start to nod off!!! I've become one of those "only reads magazines" people and I'm not proud of it but maybe when I stop being a certain little man's mobile dairy I may get a wee bit more steam up. Wishing you a beautiful week lovely one :) xxx
P.S. What dates for you hols up here? And where are you staying x

  5. Good work on the 50 pages a day! When I read I have trouble stopping at 50 pages, I just keep going welllll after when I should turn the lights out. I'm up to 18 books so far this year and I've been recording them on www.goodreads.com It's got lots of recommendations and it suggests books based on what you have been reading which I like!
