Sydney bound....

Yep...we're off on a family road trip next week.  Melbourne to Sydney....and we cannot wait!

I'm busy planning how we can fill our days, what sights to see and also the usual organisation that goes with travelling with kids.  My kids are familiar with time on the road, however this will be our longest stint, although I do plan to break it up, stopping off and allowing the holiday begin before we reach our final destination.   I'll take the kids to Gundagai for the Dog on a Tuckerbox experience, and also the Big Marino somewhere on the way to Goulburn.   On the way home I hope to detour off the freeway and do the Grand Pacific Drive...Oh there is just so much I'm finding it's all to hard to choose!

It's been over twenty years since I've been to sydney, so technically the last time I went I was the child being taken care of.  What to see and do?  I've got the classic opera house visit, harbour cruise (weather permitting) and a trip to a market planned but tell me...what should we do??  Where should we go??  Or better still, what should we avoid???

Sydney here we come!

flying high

As the sun shines, the flower buds glitter, the warm freeze sweeps across my face blowing my hair in every direction.  Yes. Spring is here.  Finally.  It's time to throw open the windows and doors, adorn tables full of blooms and hang washing on the line (knowing it will dry!).

A collection of a few aprons made for a special customer.  My grandmother is heading back to her home country of Italy for a short visit.  She requested my help of making her sisters and other relatives some special Australian gifts. So I hunted out some aboriginal fabric at GJ's and  we spent the day together sewing, cutting and ironing, chatting, eating and laughing.  We made twelve of these gorgeous aprons and later on with the left over fabric I made her some key fobs which will be good for extra friends she finds along on her travels.

You may remember the last time I made so many aprons en masse - it seems like the perfect gift for an Italian Nonna!  And I could not resist hanging a few up on such a beautiful day to watch them flap about in the breeze....

And to my Nonna....travel safe and have fun!

destinazione Italia {destination Italy}

It's official - we booked!  We are heading back to Italy!

Next year this little family will be traveling abroad to visit relatives overseas in Italy!  We headed off to the Europe Travel Expo on the weekend and finally made a commitment and booked out tickets for next winter (so summer time over there)

We celebrated with breakfast at a nearby cafe and then darling hubby got the urge to cook his delicious meatballs for dinner, accompanied by some yummy garlic bread and great vino.  Can you tell our love of food!! Even our daughter took her bread and wiped her plate clean!  A true little Italian Signorina!

So even though this trip is months and months away we are on the wave of excitement and trepidation as we take the plunge in taking our children who will be 5 and 3 during travels.  So if anyone has travelled with little ones before - please please grace me with your travel tips, do's and don'ts!
